Class descriptions
Two-Wire Wrapping
Two-wire wrapping is an inexpensive and basic way to wrap and secure stones with wire. It is in some ways easier than multi-wire cabochon wire wrapping. Two-wire wrapping produces pendants and other types of jewelry suitable for everyday wear. It is a particularly good technique to showcase specimen rocks. It is also a very good way to get your hands and fingers used to working with wire before you advance to cabochon wire wrapping.
This two-session (5 total hour) class will provide an introduction to tools, wire, design motifs, and strategies appropriate for two-wire pendant wrapping. You will receive a partially polished stone suitable as a pendant and enough copper wire to practice wrapping your stone. Alternatively some of you may have stones of your own that you would prefer to wire wrap. Learning with your own stone is OK, as long as your stone does not present challenges that might be too difficult for beginner wire wrapping.
You will each need a set of flat nose pliers, chain nose pliers, round nose pliers, and flush cutters. You can find quality basic sets:

Much better sets are also available at prices between $175 and $275. A better set might be useful to you if you also do cabochon wire wrapping or other kinds of wire jewelry work. We will have some tools available to borrow, but probably not enough for the entire class. You won't be using your pliers until the second class session. In addition to pliers and cutters, you will need some Scotch blue tape, a 12 inch plastic ruler, pencil, and paper.
