Hey Everyone, Another month has gone by and cool weather approaches. We have had some great activities as a club last month. The annual club picnic was a lot of fun and we had a great turnout. We also had a great trip to the Cedar City / Milford area. Thanks to Tom and LuAnn Wilmore for putting that together for us. The bubble opal claim was great, and Mark and Ken made it a ton of fun. We will definitely have to go back there again. September’s club meeting will be at the Cache County Fairgrounds Event Center on Thursday the 9th at 7 PM. We are looking forward to Patrick’s presentation on stabilizing rocks. We will also be bringing some of the bubble opal for members that were not able to make it on the trip to purchase. I hope to see you all there. We have two trips coming up this month. Watch for an email with more McDermott info next week. We have a ton of fun on these trips, but I want to remind everyone to come prepared. We have had flat tires, heat stroke, trucks break down, transmissions go out, and lost personal items this year. Make sure you bring plenty of water and food, and please if you leave the group let someone know where you are going. We live in stressful times and the club is an excellent place to get away from your problems and the divisions that are rampant in society right now. We appreciate all of you and how amazing the members of this club are about accepting everyone. Please remember to be kind to everyone you meet. You never know what battles people are facing. Also, a reminder that elections are coming up. If you want to run for any office, we need to know by the October meeting so your names can be placed on the ballot. The election happens in November at the club meeting. The positions that you can run for are President, Vice President 1, Vice President 2, Treasurer, Secretary, Historian, and Chairman of the Board. The details on responsibilities for each position are in the bylaws and are available on the website and the Facebook Group. Thanks for all you do.

Hey Everybody, Just got back from a fun club field trip to the Cedar City area. Thank you, Tom and LuAnn for leading us. That bubble opal is amazing stuff!! From those flaming reds to the “candy” greens and purples, I am amazed. And the Picasso…crazy cool! This month’s program will be on stabilizing. We will be talking about methods used and see examples of glues and equipment. The backing of soft stones and epoxy resins will be on display. Hopefully you will learn something new and find it beneficial. If nothing else I promise a little entertainment. See you at the next meeting.

Here it is September already and I just realized our next trip is on 9/11, twenty years since that day so many lost their lives. May we never forget. That will be a day trip to Yellowcat unless you want to go down early and spend the night in Green River or Moab, for those that are day tripping it we need to leave logan by 5:00 a.m. we will meet at the Thompson Springs exit on I-70 at 9:00 am and go out from there. We will be going on the McDermott trip Sept 24-26 as well. The Milford trip was a blast, I think everyone got all the agate, jasper and opal that they need for awhile, it was a lot of fun with great people.

We have gone thru another month and I hope that all of you have survived the month. I hope that all of you that went down to Southern Utah this past week had a good time and that you were able to find a lot of material. On September 10th and 11th, is Peach Days here in Brigham and I know that we talked about having someplace to sell your goods. I am just one half block off of where the vendors sell and if some of you are interested, you are more than welcome to come down and set up on my front lawn. We get a lot of people walking by and it might be a good day. Where we did not have Peach Days last year, I am expecting a lot of people this year. If you want, you can come down on Friday to set up and then for Saturday, there is a parade on Saturday Morning and then people start walking all over. If you are interested, just get back to me and we will work something out. I can probably only take 4 or 5 of vendors, first come. Well, I hope that you have a good month and go Rock Hunting. Hope to see all of you very soon. Chairman Of The Board Message Photos From Milford & Enterprise Field Trip
